“not like last time”
i don’t like scary movies. but there’s something about the suspense genre that doesn’t rile me as much, though it’s more insidious. i really liked this one, and it called to attention jake gyllenhaal‘s career and his choices in roles thus far.
he’s particularly good at those guys that are not quite right, but still inspire compassion, or at least interest in what they’re about.
this one, and end of watch, are particularly interesting because they are about being behind the camera and the creation of how we consume media/information within the context of a film.
i guess i like scary movies that make me think about things.
